Veterinary Technologist Month Proclamation
Veterinary Technologists are professional members of veterinary teams providing support for animal health, medical and surgical care. Veterinary Technologists provide a wide variety of services that support a thriving livestock industry and keep our treasured companion animals healthy. The Manitoba Veterinary Technologists Association is the provincial voice for veterinary technologists that provides professional advancement of veterinary technologists in Manitoba. The MVTA has grown to 426 members who support animal care all across the province. The MVTA offers veterinary technologists opportunities to enhance their skills, education and career. Veterinary Technologist Month celebrates the role and importance of veterinary technologists in caring for animals.

NOW THERE FOR LET IT BE KNOW THAT I, Ralph Eichler, Minister of Agriculture in the Province of Manitoba, do hereby proclaim October 2018 as: VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST MONTH IN MANITOBA.

I commend its thoughtful and active observance and call all Manitobans to provide their interest, support and cooperation in making this observance successful in every way.

Veterinary Technologist Month Proclamation
Veterinary Technologists are trained professionals who are an integral part of the veterinary team that provides animal health, medical and surgical care; Veterinary Technologists work in a wide variety of areas in the animal care field such as clinic and laboratories, pharmaceutical supply companies, insurance companies, livestock facilities, zoos, food animal production and food safety. In Manitoba, there are 426 Veterinary Technologists registered by the Manitoba Veterinary Technologists Association (MVTA) who provide the highest level of professional care to all animals; MVTA aims to maintain high standards and promotes professional development though continuing education to its members; Veterinary Technologist Month serves to increase public awareness of the Veterinary Technologist profession and to encourage people to choose careers in the animal care field. Manitoba is proud to recognize the important role that Veterinary Technologists play in the care of livestock and companion animals in Manitoba.

Whereas Veterinary Technologists are trained professionals who are an important component of the veterinary team that provides animal health, medical and surgical care; and whereas in Manitoba, 364 Veterinary Technologists registered by the Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association and members of the Manitoba Animal Health Technologists Association (MAHTA) provide the highest level of professional care to all animals; and whereas Veterinary Technologists work in a wide variety of areas in the animal care field such as clinics and laboratories pharaceutical supply companies, insurance companies, livestock facilities, zoos, food animal production and food safety; and whereas MAHTA aims to maintain high standards and promotes professional development through continuing education to its members; and whereas Veterinary Technologist Week serves to increase public awareness of the Veterinary Technology profession and to encourage people to choose careers in the animal care field; and whereas Manitoba is proud to recognize the 364 Veterinary Technologists in Manitoba. Whereas Veterinary Technologists are animal health professionals who are an integral part of the veterinary field; and whereas there are more than 300 registered Veterinary Technologists in the province of Manitoba, regulated by the Manitoba Animal Health Technologists Association to provide the highest level of professional care to all animals; and whereas the promotion of animal health, welfare and safety are important to the citizens of Manitoba; and greater recognition of the supporting skills provided by Veterinary Technologists will enable them to better serve the interests of the public through the enhancement of animal care; and whereas it is the aim of Veterinary Technologist Week to increase awareness of the profession of Veterinary Technology and to encourage young people to choose careers in the field of skilled animal care. NOW THEREFORE LET IT BE KNOWN THAT I, Ron Kostyshyn, Minister of Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in the Province of Manitoba, do hereby proclaim October 11 – 17, 2015 as Veterinary Technologist Week in Manitoba.
