In Manitoba
Veterinary Technologist Month

Every year the MVTA writes a letter to the government of Manitoba asking them to proclaim the second week in October as Veterinary Technologist Week in Manitoba. The government has recognized our profession and granted our request since 2015. In 2017, through a national initiative, the month of October was proclaimed and celebrated as Veterinary Technologists Month.
RVTs are essential and regulated veterinary professionals who work with other veterinary team members in several areas of the veterinary industry. They play a major role in contributing to not only protecting the health and safety of animals but to all Manitobans as well through their knowledge of animal and public health, biosecurity, and infectious disease control. RVTs are involved in various tasks such as surgical assistance, anesthesia monitoring, diagnostic imaging, laboratory work, animal nursing, client education, and much more. Their expertise serves as an integral part of the health of Manitobans by contributing to the safety and supply of the food chain, as well as ensuring the well-being of Manitobans by keeping their animal companions healthy.
The MVTA was founded in 1982 to support and empower a knowledgeable network of Registered Veterinary Technologists to advance our profession while providing compassionate veterinary care. Our collective voice is the voice of RVTs across Manitoba. We are a strong association of individuals, driving the profession of RVTs and placing an emphasis on professional development and advancement.
